My wife and I were traveling back to Baltimore, MD from vacation a few weeks ago and stopped for some food in Norfolk, VA (about 250 miles from home or 4 hours with no traffic). We were hit by some dumb kids leaving the restaurant on the rear passenger door/wheel area. We took the car to a local tire company who determined that it was definitely unsafe to drive back to Baltimore. This was a Saturday afternoon at about 3pm. Unfortunately, Hertz and Enterprise were already closed as it was a Saturday and there was nothing their insurance company could do to help. So we were stranded in Norfolk from about 2pm when the accident occurred until about 9pm when a couple of our good friends drove all the way down to us and were able to pick us up. With our car being in Norfolk, we had to travel all the way back down there to pick the car up in the middle of the week since the car was fixed and we already had the rental car too long. We both had to leave work early and were on the road from about 1:30pm until 12am by the time we battled rush hour traffic and everything. The breakdown of our expenses are as follows: $60 in gas for our friends' trip there and back to pick us up $50 in gift cards for them (they gave up over 9 hours of their Saturday night to drive and help us) $20 in food for ourselves and our friends while were stranded $75 in gas to drive back down to get our car (not as good gas mileage in our car) $??? time spent stranded and driving back to MD

The pedestrian was walking from the parking lot and came onto the road from a blind spot. 3. I was driving at 30kms/hrs and saw the pedestrian just before I hit the pedestrian. 4. The pedestrian was NOT using the designated pedestrian crosswalk but was jaywalking on the road in attempt to cross the road. 5. I applied brakes as soon as I saw the pedestrian on my way but the pedestrian got hit by the time finished applying the breaks. I think my car came in contact with the pedestrian when the car had almost stopped possibly causing the minimum impact. Pedestrian seemed to be all right (not injured) but was slightly in pain due to the hit as my car hit her in the thigh. She did not fall down and was still able to walk (but was crying due to the shock) 6. I called 911 (both cops and ambulance) and they didnt charge me with offence. 7. The Police Officer concluded that it was not my fault after he confirmed with the witnesses that I actually tried to stop the car and that the pedestrian was jaywalking and not using the pedestrian walk for cross the road. The cop mentioned that I would have been charged if I were not driving on a private property. The building security also concluded that I was not at fault. 8. The police accident report makes no mention of my fault. 9. The paramedics concluded that pedestrian was not injured and was all right but they took her to the hospital anyway (for check up since the pedestrian seemed to have some pain in the thigh) My question is Although, I was not ticketed or charged, would MY INSURANCE GO UP? I have heard that Insurance companies are notorious and would hold you responsible anyways or may hold you partially at fault?

I have been looking on confused.com, comparethemarket.com, gocompare.com for car insurance quotes and they are all between 6000-16000 these prices are a total joke okay maybe there are stupid drivers but there has got to be a balance between high premiums and trying to stop people driving without insurance having prices like these will result in many people driving un-insured. I am 17 and passed in January of this year and I have took the Pass Plus Scheme and it has made not difference in my quotes. I need help to see if I am doing anything wrong because I can not see how any 17 year old can afford 7000 for insurance. Thanks for the Help.
